Job Description

The position requires performing a variety of technical procedures involved in the procurement, processing, and evaluation of patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease; perform routine clerical and technical procedures including specimen collection; responsible for the management of laboratory supplies and specimens from the physician's office, clinical specimen preparation, and processing for analysis and dispatch, patient registration and order entry; and serve as laboratory representative and liaison between the physician's office and the consulting group. Looking for a candidate that is a team-player and is willing to help with other tasks in the clinic. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Perform routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease using standard techniques and equipment; perform related duties in the laboratory to include storing and labeling specimens and using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests on an immunoassay screening analyzer and an HPLC/MS.
  • Understand and comply with laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance policies and procedures for instrumentation and testing.
  • Maintain detailed records of tests performed and report laboratory test results to appropriate personnel.
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on test equipment, clean and sterilize laboratory equipment, maintain laboratory supply of chemicals and reagents.
  • Interact in a professional and courteous manner with doctors, nurses, and other personnel to provide technical guidance and address concerns.
Interact with patients in the same professional and courteous manner. -Reviewing patient schedule for screening requirements, Collaborating with Bill Specialist on insurance and workers comp assignments, Keeping the laboratory areas clean and organized, Specimen Collection, Greeting Patients, Ensuring results are received and given to provider -Additional Administrative duties
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and/or experience: The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in a life science (i.e. Biology, chemistry). Candidates must meet and be able to document compliance with CLIA and COLA requirements for Lab Technician position in a -Complexity Lab.
