Job Description

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS), a growing technology firm, is currently seeking a qualified Pyrometallurgical Research Scientist to work in the Butte, MT titanium research facility. This position is an excellent opportunity to be part of a multifaceted effort to optimize and commercialize our patented titanium production method while expanding your career in science. The successful candidate will have skills and experience as summarized below. What will you be doing?
Duties include:
Design experiments for extracting titanium metal from titanium ores Set up, operate/monitor, and maintain various types of laboratory equipment Perform appropriate tests and analysis to characterize samples Write test plans and test procedures Analyze experimental results and summarize findings in reports and presentations Design, procure, and configure equipment necessary for experimentation, testing, and scale-up Assist with and perform all laboratory procedures Keep accurate records of experiments and maintain them in a laboratory database Accurately report activities Contribute to the maintenance of the laboratory facility Implement and follow safety procedures Maintain inventory of chemicals and equipment Some travel will be required What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful? This position will require the following skillsets and experience: Must be familiar with analysis methods and instrumentation to determine purity of samples and efficacy of experiments (e.g., IGF, ICP, SEM, XRD, XRF, etc.) Excellent communication, both written and verbally Ability to work independently with little supervision and in a team environment Adaptable to new situations, equipment, and work environments Experience with MS Office software and various data acquisition software packages Ability to lift 50 lbs. may be required on occasion Enthusiasm and curiosity for science in general Must be a US Citizen or able to obtain clearance to work in the
USA Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of, and hands-on experience with high-temperature reactive metal production Experience with test equipment and procedures for reducing reactive metal ores Experience with high-temperature vacuum furnaces M.S. or Ph.D. with experience in reactive metal production or related field Read about our benefits here: Our Benefits - UTRS | Always, Got Your Back UTRS is an Equal Opportunity employer.
