Request to Recruit Working Title Lab Technician Location Boone, NC Position Number N59857 Department Biology - 250100 Position Summary Information Minimum Qualifications Must pass criminal background check License/Certification Required Essential Job Functions Assist with molecular laboratory and field data analyses related to freshwater mussel conservation research. Duties will include but are not limited to the following activities:- Measure and process specimens Voucher specimens in the lab Assist with reports Construct maps Conduct statistical analyses Purchase and maintain equipment Preferred Qualifications Ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of past experience working with freshwater mussels or working in freshwater streams. Ideal candidate will have some familiarity with mussel taxonomy and molecular and laboratory analyses techniques as well as being comfortable working with ARC-GIS and statistical software packages. Work Schedule/Hours Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:00 AM-2:00 PM Number of Hours Per Week 20 Number of Months Per Year 12 Mandatory Staff No Physical Demands of Position Physical demands include some heavy lifting of lab and field equipment as well as a wide range of repetitive motions including sitting and standing. Hiring Range 25.00 Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
