About the
Role:
As a Lab Technician, you will perform routine and specialised laboratory work to support testing, analysis, and data generation. You will ensure equipment is correctly operated and maintained, samples are processed accurately, and all work adheres to regulatory and OSHA safety standards. Your contribution will help maintain high-quality output and dependable results for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment according to established protocols. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of lab equipment to ensure optimal performance. Prepare, label, and process samples, ensuring proper handling, storage, and chain-of-custody. Conduct tests and analyses following documented procedures and standard operating practices. Record, verify, and organise test data and observations in laboratory information systems or logs. Follow and enforce regulatory, OSHA, and internal safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals. Assist in quality control checks, including running controls, verifying results, and reporting deviations. Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant laboratory environment, including waste disposal in line with regulations.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience working in a laboratory setting in a technician or similar role. Demonstrated ability to operate and care for common laboratory equipment and instruments. Strong understanding of regulatory and OSHA safety standards in a lab or industrial environment. Experience performing quality control and assurance activities within testing or analytical workflows. Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate, legible records. Solid attention to detail and consistency in sample handling and data entry. Comfortable working to deadlines and managing multiple tasks in a structured environment. Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and report issues or anomalies.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in an industrial, environmental, or petrochemical laboratory setting. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic data capture tools. Background in method validation, proficiency testing, or internal audit support. Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and spill response procedures. Prior experience in a contract or project-based role requiring flexibility and adaptability.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED Laboratory technician certificate or equivalent vocational training preferred. OSHA safety training or certification (e.g., OSHA 10/30) beneficial. Additional training in quality systems or laboratory best practices considered an advantage.
Pay:
$19.00 - $19.90 per hour
