Laboratory Technician

Lab Technician Job Description Job Title:

Lab Technician Summary:

To perform testing and analysis of urine samples in an efficient and timely manner.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Set up test equipment for specific tests and analysis

• Collect test data and prepare reports detailing results
• Procure and maintain test equipment to perform required product analysis and testing
• Verify temperatures in laboratory and fridge as required
• Communicate test results and volume daily to Lab Supervisor
• Comply with safety rules and regulations to include determining proper handling procedures with samples
• Participate in quality control activities throughout the laboratory to include reviewing final reports and collecting all data necessary for routine quality control functions and tests. Attend training seminars as needed
• Maintain laboratory supplies inventory
• Submit requests for supplies
• Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines
• Inform management of any issues or concerns
• Maintain general housekeeping of laboratory
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Assist with accessioning samples
• Assist with documentation and compliance

Skills:

1.

Basic Laboratory skills:

Pipetting, Solution Prep, Cleaning and maintaining glassware, operating lab instruments. 2. Strong communication skills. 3. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, and lab software. 4.

• Knowledge with Shimadzu LCMS a PLUS
• 5.

Strong attention to detail. 6. Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team.

Special Skills:

Demonstrates versatility and ability to maintain multiple tasks Strong organizational skills in providing sample analysis Strong computer literacy in data entry Utilizes basic mathematical and problem-solving skills Possesses listening skills and has the ability to follow instructions
