Position Information Recruitment/Posting Title Research Teaching Specialist IV Job Category Staff & Executive - Research (Laboratory/Non-Laboratory) Department RWJ - Neuroscience & Cell Biol Overview New Jersey's academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University-New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and six centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, clinical and translational research, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, supports the daily operations and scientific infrastructure of a newly established systems neuroscience laboratory. Responsibilities span assistance with laboratory management and maintenance of shared computational analysis pipelines. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists with day-to-day laboratory operations, including maintaining lab organization, managing shared spaces, and ensuring efficient laboratory workflows. Assists with placing orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintains and contributes to a shared laboratory codebase, ensuring version-controlled, analysis pipelines for neural and behavioral data. Develops, documents, and maintains standard operating protocols (SOPs); assists with onboarding and training of new students, fellows, and research staff. Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Assists the Principal Investigator with the preparation of grant applications, progress reports, and administrative tasks. Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be able to follow detailed laboratory instructions. Strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Fabrication experience with 3D printing, laser cutting and machining is preferred. Programming experience (Python, MATLAB , and/or Arduino/microcontroller programming) is preferred. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative code management is preferred.
