Job Description

Premier Health Group is a multi-disciplinary practice with a focus on wellness and pain management as well as vascular diseases. Position Summary The Laboratory Processor is responsible for the accurate accessioning of patient specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), coordination of send-out testing, preparation of samples for laboratory testing personnel, resolution of client issues, and management of laboratory billing processes. This role is critical to ensuring accurate test processing, maintaining workflow efficiency, supporting client satisfaction, and optimizing laboratory revenue cycle operations. Key Responsibilities 1. Accessioning & LIS Data Entry
  • Accurately enter patient and test information into the LIS
Verify:
o Patient demographics o Test orders and requisitions o Insurance and billing information
  • Assign appropriate test codes and ensure correct test routing
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in requisitions, specimens, or orders
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and laboratory data integrity standards 2. Specimen Processing & Preparation
  • Receive and log incoming specimens
  • Sort, label, and prepare specimens for testing
  • Centrifuge, aliquot, and package samples according to test requirements
  • Ensure specimens are properly stored (ambient, refrigerated, frozen)
  • Prioritize STAT and time-sensitive samples 3. Send-Out Testing Coordination
  • Identify specimens requiring referral to reference laboratories
  • Prepare and package send-out specimens in accordance with: o CLIA requirements o Shipping and biohazard regulations
  • Complete required documentation and tracking
  • Maintain send-out logs and monitor turnaround times
  • Communicate with reference labs regarding test status and issues 4. Client Support & Problem Resolution
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries
  • Resolve issues related to: o Missing information o Rejected specimens o Incorrect orders o Delayed results
  • Communicate professionally with physician offices and clients
  • Coordinate with phlebotomy, courier, and technical staff to resolve workflow issues 5. Laboratory Billing & Revenue Cycle Management
  • Accurately process billing information for all test orders
  • Verify insurance eligibility and billing details
  • Assign CPT codes and ensure proper linkage to test orders
  • Submit billing data to billing systems or third-party billing vendors
  • Resolve billing discrepancies, denials, and missing information
  • Maintain compliance with: o CMS billing guidelines o Medical necessity requirements
  • Assist in tracking accounts receivable and rejected claims 6. Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate accessioning logs, billing records, and send-out documentation
  • Ensure all processes align with: o CLIA regulations o HIPAA privacy requirements o Laboratory SOPs
  • Participate in audits and quality assurance reviews Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma required
  • Associate's degree in healthcare, laboratory science, or related field preferred Experience
  • Experience with LIS (Lab Information System) required
  • Prior laboratory accessioning or specimen processing experience preferred
  • Experience with medical billing or revenue cycle management strongly preferred Skills & Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Proficiency with LIS and data entry systems
  • Knowledge of CPT coding and laboratory billing practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements

  • Ability to handle biological specimens safely
  • Ability to lift up to 20-30 lbs Work Environment
  • Clinical laboratory setting
  • Exposure to biological specimens and hazardous materials (with proper PPE) Schedule
Full-time Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
