Student Intermediate Level Requisition ID req36833 Working Title Lab Aide Pay 17.00 Hourly Campus Health Sciences Center (HSC) - Albuquerque, NM Department Molecular Genetics Microbiology (564A) Employment Type Student Employment Student Type Student Employment Status Non-Exempt Background Check Required For Best Consideration Date 6/15/2026 Position Summary A lab aide is needed to complete lab maintenance tasks related to current grant funding in the lab of Michelle Ozbun, Ph.D.
General laboratory maintenance:
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of laboratory workspaces, shared equipment areas, and storage areas Stock, monitor, and replenish routine laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables Receive, label, store, and help track laboratory supplies, samples, and reagents Maintain accurate records for inventory, equipment maintenance, temperature logs, and routine quality control activities Prepare basic solutions, buffers, media, and other routine laboratory materials according to established protocols Assist laboratory personnel with general operational tasks and experimental procedures to ensure efficient day-to-day lab function Perform routine upkeep of laboratory equipment, including cleaning, basic checks, and maintenance logs Monitor refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and other storage or culture equipment as assigned Handle and dispose of biohazardous, chemical, sharps, and general laboratory waste in accordance with institutional safety procedures Minimum Qualifications Equivalencies not found for this position Preferred Qualifications Preferred - experience in general lab maintenance Application Instructions Only applications submitted through the official UNMJobs site will be accepted.
