Position Title:
Sleep Study Night Technician (Polysomnographic Technician)

Full-Time Position Summary The Sleep Study Night Technician is responsible for conducting overnight sleep studies (polysomnography) to diagnose and evaluate sleep disorders. The technician monitors patients throughout the night, collects and documents physiological data, ensures patient safety and comfort, and follows physician orders and established clinical protocols. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare sleep study equipment and patient rooms prior to scheduled studies. Explain sleep study procedures and answer patient questions. Obtain and document patient medical history and sleep-related information. Apply electrodes and sensors according to established polysomnography standards. Perform overnight diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP/BiPAP titration studies, split-night studies, and other sleep-related testing as ordered. Monitor patients continuously throughout the study and respond to patient needs. Recognize and correct technical issues with recording equipment. Accurately document observations, events, and interventions during the study. Ensure compliance with patient privacy and HIPAA regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sleep laboratory environment. Prepare study data for scoring and physician interpretation. Participate in quality assurance activities and continuing education as required. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a sleep technology training program or equivalent experience. Current CPR certification. Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. Strong communication and patient care skills. Basic computer proficiency. Preferred Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential. Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential. Previous experience in a sleep laboratory or healthcare setting. Knowledge of CPAP, BiPAP, and other sleep-related therapies. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to work overnight shifts in a clinical environment. Skills and Competencies Strong observational and critical-thinking skills. Ability to work independently during overnight shifts. Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Work Schedule Typical shift:
7:00 PM - 6:30 AM (or as assigned) Overnight, weekends, and holiday coverage may be required.
