Job Description

We are looking for a Laboratory Sample Control Technician that will be responsible for logging, tracking, and managing the receipt and shipment of all samples. This role ensures accurate and timely documentation within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), including labeling, routing, and storage of samples. The technician determines testing priorities based on documentation and supports proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive and unload incoming samples in compliance with applicable regulations Verify incoming shipments against accompanying documentation Identify discrepancies and work toward a timely resolution Maintain clear and responsive communication with internal teams and clients Log samples into LIMS and assign tracking/job numbers Accurately label samples for identification and traceability Sample preparation to include milling and cleaning up Perform sample splitting and compositing when required Route samples to appropriate departments or testing areas Coordinate shipment of samples to external laboratories as needed Additional Responsibilities Dispose of samples, waste, and hazardous materials according to established procedures Monitor and document freezer and refrigerator temperatures daily to ensure compliance with SOPs Maintain a clean, organized workspace to support efficient operations Manage supply inventory and restock as needed Assist with maintenance and organization of sample storage areas including refrigerators and freezers Train to pull samples when primary sampler is absent. Follow all safety policies and promote a safe, environmentally compliant workplace Perform other duties as assigned
REQURIEMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required Prior laboratory experience preferred Experience in a production-driven environment (meeting deadlines) preferred Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Good written and oral communication skills, math and English skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong organizational and time management skills Physical requirements: Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Good hand dexterity for computer data input and lab equipment operation. Normal vision required to conduct experiments and prepare and audit documents. Normal range of hearing required to answer phone calls. Able to lift, bend, stoop and twist in order to conduct experiments and process samples. Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
