Role:
We are looking for a competent and dedicated Science Laboratory Assistant to support the Science Department at Yishun Area Secondary School. You will work closely with the Science Laboratory Technician to ensure smooth daily operations of our school laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
Exam & Practical Prep:
Support daily science practical setups and practical examination preparations.
Material Management:
Dispense chemicals and systematically lay out required apparatus (glassware, chemicals, safety goggles, etc.).
Lab Maintenance:
Collect, clear away, and wash glass apparatus and other teaching materials after each practical session.
Safety & Disposal:
Safely handle and dispose of chemicals according to safety protocols (p. 12).
Term Preparation:
Perform general replenishment of bench reagents during term breaks before school terms begin.
Ad-hoc Support:
Carry out any other ad-hoc laboratory duties as assigned by the Science Laboratory Technician.
Working Hours & School Calendar Structure:
Days:
Monday to Friday
Hours:
7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Inclusive of a 1-hour lunch break)
Rest Days:
Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazetted Public Holidays
Important School Holiday Note:
Service is strictly not required for the entire months of June and December each year.
Job Requirements Education:
Minimum Primary level qualifications (Must be able to read and write in English).
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience in a school science laboratory setting (acquired between 1 January 2022 to present).
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of laboratory environments and chemical preparation.
Soft Skills:
Good communication skills and a strong team player.
Mindset:
Positive attitude, pleasant disposition, able to work independently, and willing to take initiative.
