POSITION PURPOSE
The Lab Technician position is responsible for verification that Nassau Chromium operations and processing tanks are performing to the standards specified in the Quality Manual and
IAW NADCAP AC 7108
standards. This responsibility includes performing chemical titrations, monthly testing, auditing, sampling finished production, and documentation review of all control aspects. Additionally, The Lab Tech will review and verify that Nassau Chromium production meets customer specifications as detailed in Request for Quotations or in subsequent Customer Orders/Contracts. This position will maintain the Quality Manual ensuring that current practices are accurately reflected in the document. Maintaining compliance with ISO
  • 9001-2015 and NADCAP program requirements is a top priority of this position, integrating daily efforts of the entire operations staff at Nassau Chromium.
Laboratory Technician has direct responsibility for the Laboratory and will provide real time support to production staff to maintain chemical requirements across all processes. This position provides day-to-day assistance to the Production Manager and may include duties ranging from maintaining tank controls to ensure processes yield efficiency and specification requirements. Laboratory Technician has the authority to suspend production activities at any time if integrity of the process has been compromised; this authority requires notification of the President. Communications with senior staff and general management are to be fulfilled as required to assist and ensure the operational targets for throughput, on-time delivery and customer specifications are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Job Duties:
Maintain proper calibration and certification of all instruments used in the production or testing process. Maintain certifications of all chemicals used in the production or testing process. Maintain files and full of specifications that the production processes must meet, including: a.
ISO 90001-2015
b.
NADCAP 7000
c. Sikorsky d. Boeing e. ASTM f. Others as they become relevant Organize, manage and complete auditing requirements as defined in the Quality Manual. Organize and manage outside testing services, such as provided by Omega Research Testing on a monthly schedule. Cut purchase orders for testing. Maintain, update and keep secure all Controlled Documents such as: Calibration Lists, Approved Supplier Lists Inventory Operations Procedures Organize, implement and document staff training as needed to maintain quality control compliance. Perform Hull wet analysis of plating chemistries a. Daily
  • Electroless Nickel b. Weekly
  • Anodizing Baths c. Monthly
  • Plating Baths d. Monthly
  • Salt Spray e. Monthly
  • Coating Weight e.
Perform product performance testing f. Enter test data results into lab programs g. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment h. Maintain automatic feeder, controls & pumps on plating line i. Maintain chemistry parameters j. Make chemical additions Gather, document, and complete statistical analysis of required production data and chemical processes. Maintain chemical integrity of the production baths and solutions, including cost effective resolution of anomalies and imbalances that often occur. Maintain expert knowledge on laboratory procedures and protocols. Provide storage and shelf-life monitoring for Critical Consumables. Assist in controlling nonconforming product as defined in the quality manual. Participate in continual improvement processes in support of efficiency gains and quality standards. Lead the organization in corrective action review, including Root Cause Analysis and subsequent Preventative Action. Other duties

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical field.

Ability to read Engineering prints and part dimensions and tolerance requirements. Ability to operate Quality tools and gauges, fixtures and other tooling as needed. Perform all lab testing and chemical analysis required for an electroplating operation. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Demonstrated ability to organize and plan work flow
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience in a metal coatings operation as a lab technician or quality control specialist a plus. Recent graduates from technical programs acceptable.
