MSK:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Medical Lab Assistant for the Cytology Lab. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center consists of disease-specific pathologists, molecular diagnosticians, clinical laboratory testing experts, educators, and researchers with expertise and focus on cancers affecting both adult and pediatric patients. Our faculty collaborate with oncologists and surgeons to customize each patient's treatment based on an individual diagnosis and are actively involved in developing new diagnostic tests to improve diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of cancer patients.
Role Overview:
File/retrieve microscopic slide and paraffin blocks correctly and maintain them in an organized manner Ensure that materials are filed chronologically by year and accession number Perform proper identification to ensure materials retrieved match the forms submitted Maintain accurate and complete records Delivers requests in a timely manner and provides updates to the requestor as needed Open monthly standing orders and record items in the inventory logbook Pull specimen containers designated for additional testing Discard specimen containers Maintain stain set-ups
Key Qualifications:
1+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Assistant or related job.
High School Diploma/GED Core Skills:
Articulate and able to deliver messages in a clear, compelling, and concise manner Able to work effectively in an energizing environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond to changing priorities Capable of performing tasks with a high degree of accuracy and setting priorities to see projects through completion Able to work independently and as part of a team.
