Job Description

Laboratory Assistant Pinnacle Testing Labs is a fully licensed cannabis testing laboratory located in Akron, Ohio. We specialize in analytical and microbiological testing of cannabis and cannabis-derived products, including flower, edibles, concentrates, and processed products, using modern laboratory instrumentation, validated methods, and regulated laboratory procedures. We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and dependable individual to join our growing laboratory team as a Laboratory Assistant . This position is ideal for someone interested in laboratory operations, sample handling, regulated industry compliance, quality systems, and scientific support work. The Laboratory Assistant will support daily laboratory operations by assisting with sample intake, sample preparation, chain-of-custody documentation, laboratory organization, inventory, cleaning, and general support activities. This role may also include off-site sample collection at licensed client facilities as needed. This is a full-time position with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, generally between approximately 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM , depending on laboratory needs and client sampling schedules. Responsibilities Perform sample accessioning, intake, labeling, storage, and tracking activities. Maintain accurate chain-of-custody documentation and compliance records using METRC and laboratory information management systems. Assist with sample preparation and routine laboratory support tasks under established SOPs. Support analytical chemistry and microbiology laboratory workflows through preparation, organization, and documentation. Assist with laboratory cleaning, organization, inventory management, supply preparation, and equipment maintenance. Follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, quality system requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Assist with off-site sample collection at licensed client facilities using proper sterile and aseptic techniques as needed. Transport samples safely and professionally in accordance with laboratory SOPs and state regulations when assigned. Maintain professional communication with clients, laboratory staff, and management. Perform other laboratory support duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Position Requirements Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Ability to maintain focus and accuracy over extended periods of repetitive or detail-oriented work. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures accurately. Good manual dexterity for sample handling, labeling, preparation, and other hands-on laboratory tasks. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain clean, orderly work areas. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while also supporting a team-based laboratory environment. Clean driving record and ability to safely transport samples when needed. Candidate must be eligible for State of Ohio badging/registration and pass required background checks. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a laboratory, microbiology, environmental sampling, pharmaceutical, healthcare, food testing, cannabis testing, or quality assurance environment. Experience with sample handling, sample accessioning, aseptic technique, or regulated documentation. Familiarity with LIMS software, METRC, chain-of-custody procedures, or compliance documentation. Experience working in a regulated environment following SOPs, quality systems, GLP, GMP, ISO, or similar standards.
