Medical Laboratory Tech - PRN
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for laboratory specimen processing, test performance and test result reporting in the clinical departments of the laboratory. The position is responsible for performing procedures relative to quality control, quality assurance and preventive maintenance according to laboratory protocols. Strives to achieve highest level of customer satisfaction through activities and interaction with customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Associates Degree. Successful completion of a two year post high school program in Medical Laboratory Technology. Meets federal guidelines (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments/CLIA) for performing high complexity testing. Knowledge and experience working with Laboratory Information systems preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations as it applies to the clinical laboratory. Knowledge of patient age specific criteria for laboratory testing. Required Length and Type of Experience One (1) year experience working in a clinical laboratory. Experience working with automated/semi automated instrumentation and manual procedures Required Licensure or Certification MLT (ASCP) preferred or proof of qualification to sit for examination within 6 months. Required Physical and Environmental Demands Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of personal protective equipment. Sitting Standing Color vision Exposure to infectious disease Noise exposure Work with others
