Lab Assistant

Shift:

Tuesday - Saturday 6:00am-3:00pm

Overview:

Prepare lab samples for analysis in laboratory. Assist Lab Technicians as directed in laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

Check lab samples in to validate samples received are stable with appropriate documentation for processing. Accession lab samples into the LIS system and prepare them for analysis with lab instruments. Place processed specimens into the inventory management system and manage the disposal of the specimens as defined by management. Scan lab requisition forms into the LIS. Have a working knowledge of LIS software systems for initializing all lab tests, validating test results, and creation of lab reports. Recognize and communicate any issues with the operations of the reference laboratory to the appropriate personnel. Make lab orders with 3rdParty Labs as needed from the patient lab requisition forms. Monitor the results of 3rdParty Labs to insure results are received in a timely manner. Assist Laboratory Technicians as needed in processing samples. Log all completed specimens to ensure they can be retrieved at a later date. Monitor and upkeep the log of pending test results, and assist the technicians in making sure that they are run. Plate urine samples onto agar dishes for microbiological inspection. Conduct and take notes at weekly laboratory safety meetings. Assist as directed in other tasks required in laboratory operations. Be responsive to Laboratory Directory requests for keeping laboratory within compliance. Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School, GED, or equivalent work experience
