Under general supervision performs transcription and other secretarial duties in the Pathology Laboratory office.Essential Responsibilities:
Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Performs multiple office functions including answering phones and providing test results to clinical providers by phone or fax. Must be able to do some transcription including dictation corrections. Coordinates the shipping of patient cases to other institutions for referral. Tracks cases to ensure they are returned. Assists in scheduling department functions and daily activities including conference room schedules and conferences. Runs management reports including daily outstanding logs. Registers patient specimens and corrects errors in billing and/or dictated reports. Performs filing of slides, reports, departmental records, and preps records for HIM. Retrieves and prepares slides for review by Pathologists before conferences and tumor board. Reconciles invoices as requested. Maintains clean and organized workstation. Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Level 1):Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.Experience:
0-3 years of experience required.Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:

High School Diploma or GED required.Experience:
5 years of experience in a medical/clinical setting required. Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:
None required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work as part of a team and follow instructions. Must be able to consistently and dependably report to work as scheduled. Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and exercise sound judgment. Must be able to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations. Must possess ability to understand various operations, policies, and procedures. Ability to work and communicate with co-workers and other caregivers, and meet their needs in a professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative manner. Must display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards establishing priorities and completing assignments efficiently. Ability to work with minimum supervision and demonstrate attention to detail. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
