Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor•
Microbiology Lab Additional Position Details:
FTE:
0.675000 | Part Time | 3rd Shift
  • Nights Schedule:
    6 shifts on, 8 shifts off. 8:30pm to 6:00am, Shifts will be Thursday
  • Tuesday Salary Range:
    $19.27
  • $26.
50.
Shift Differentials:
$1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm
  • 11:00pm $2.
15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am $1.10 extra for working weekends Position Summary The Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor contributes to the overall patient experience by using organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens as specified by regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures. This is done through assessing requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high-quality laboratory results. Qualifications Education High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required Prior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology Experience 1 year of laboratory experience or a combination of education and or related experience in a healthcare setting providing knowledge of medical terminology is required Specimen processing experience including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging, preferred Phlebotomy experience and/or knowledge of laboratory tests and /or laboratory ordering processes, preferred College courses/credits toward advanced degree, especially science course work, preferred Data entry, keyboarding experience and computer proficiency, preferred Licensure/Certifications Medical Laboratory Assistant through the Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferred Working Conditions This position requires the ability to stand/walk or lift/handle/carry between 20 and 50 pounds as a regular part of your work duties.
