Job Description

The Scientist II, Clinical Technician performs high-complexity and moderate-complexity laboratory testing in a CLIA-regulated research laboratory. The role is responsible for accurate specimen processing (preclinical and clinical), test execution, and results documentation in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and institutional standards. This position ensures the integrity, reliability, and traceability of laboratory data supporting clinical research, while maintaining strict adherence to quality control and regulatory requirements. Scientist II, Clinical Technician collaborates with the bioanalytical team to develop/qualify/validate methods and contributes to maintaining a state of inspection readiness. The role requires hands-on laboratory work, including assay execution, PBMC and lymphocyte isolation, and mammalian cell culture under GLP and CLIA guidelines. Scientist II, Clinical Technician will work closely with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality data generation in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field 3 + years of relevant laboratory experience in immunological assays or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Exposure to clinical trial sample handling or translational research. Experience in immunology, biomarker analysis, or cell-based assays. Proficiency with PBMC/lymphocyte isolation, mammalian cell culture, and basic immunology concepts. Basic knowledge of GLP, CLIA, and GCLP standards. Familiarity with LIMS or electronic lab notebook systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs accurately. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Good organizational, communication, and time management skills. Willingness to learn and adapt in a regulated, fast-paced environment
Travel:
Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 0-5% of the time, depending on the needs of the project, the client and the company.
On-Site:
This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location. Ability to accommodate evening, overnight or weekend travel, including potential extended trips to attend training, meetings, conduct fieldwork, or meet with clients. Immunizations and Screenings (choose all that apply): This position will require working with human and animal tissues and biofluids (e.g. Non-Human Primates, Rabbits, Rats, Mice). Research:
This position may be required to go on-site to perform their regular work functions related to continued research during periods of adjusted operations. This would not likely be required to go on-site during a company closure under normal business operations.
Vision:
Ability to distinguish between different colors (normal color vision). Ability to see clearly at various distances. Adequate near vision for reading documents or lab equipment. Ability to focus and maintain concentration in tasks for extended periods. Ability to work in environments with varying light conditions.
