Job Description

Laboratory Technician Status:

Magnify Biosciences Inc. is an innovative spin-off from Dr. Yongxin Zhao's Biophotonics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. We are an early-stage startup revolutionizing 3D nanoscale imaging using Expansion Microscopy (ExM) by providing researchers and labs with tools to quickly master complex nanoscale imaging with ease.
Role:
We are seeking a meticulous and dependable Laboratory Technician. In this in-person full-time role, you'll report directly to the leadership team and support advanced neuroscience imaging projects using ExM, playing a critical part in the lab's operations by carefully executing essential tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine sample preparation for Expansion Microscopy (ExM) for neuroscience research, ensuring precision and consistency in the process. Perform immunostaining and fluorescence microscopy for high-resolution 3D imaging, contributing to the detailed visualization and analysis of specimens. Prepare reagents according to established protocols, maintaining high standards of accuracy. Execute immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence techniques to prepare and analyze samples, providing critical data for ongoing research. Validate antibodies and optimize specimen mounting strategies. Perform quality control testing to ensure reliability and accuracy in experimental results. Assist in testing and optimizing new ExM kits and protocols under the guidance of senior researchers. Maintain and manage lab resources, ensuring the efficient operation of the lab and timely completion of tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in a STEM field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Biotechnology). Experience working in a biology or chemistry research lab. Proficiency in wet lab techniques and preferably also fluorescence microscopy. High level of attention to detail, reliability, and trustworthiness in handling sensitive materials and procedures. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence. Familiarity with standard laboratory protocols and equipment. Background in neuroscience. US Citizen or permanent resident.
