Job Title:
Lab Technician (QAPC) Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a skilled Lab Technician to perform a wide range of technical laboratory procedures in a manufacturing paint lab environment. You will handle chemicals, operate sensitive laboratory equipment, and analyze samples to provide accurate data that supports production in making informed operational decisions. The position follows a 12-hour rotating schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and maintaining a clean, well-organized laboratory. Responsibilities Receive and analyze samples from production, innovation teams, and special project groups, ensuring accurate and timely testing. Safely execute laboratory tests according to established standard procedures, carefully observe results, and interpret findings to support quality and process control. Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases in accordance with safety instructions and regulatory requirements. Record all laboratory data and test results accurately and responsibly in both paper and electronic formats, including databases and spreadsheets. Operate electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and safe use. Maintain laboratory equipment in good working condition and assist with ordering and managing laboratory supplies as needed. Follow all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) guidelines at all times, including the use of appropriate protective measures and safe handling of flammable liquids, acids, bases, and other potentially hazardous substances. Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized laboratory environment to support efficient workflows and safe operations. Collaborate with production and other teams to communicate test results and support quality control and continuous improvement efforts. Work autonomously and manage workload effectively under time pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Lab Technician or in a closely related laboratory position. Hands-on experience operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment, including instruments used in a manufacturing paint lab environment. Demonstrated ability to work safely with potentially dangerous substances such as flammable liquids, acids, bases, and other laboratory chemicals. Knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) systems, including preventative measures and laboratory best practices. Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, for data entry, analysis, and reporting. Experience using database systems and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy. Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production support environment. Education in biology, chemistry, or a relevant scientific field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in quality control within a laboratory or manufacturing setting. Experience working in a manufacturing paint lab or similar industrial laboratory environment. Strong attention to detail and a high level of responsibility when recording and interpreting data. Solid organizational skills for managing samples, chemicals, and documentation. Effective communication skills to share findings and collaborate with production and innovation teams. Motivation to contribute to producing high-quality finished goods and to support continuous improvement initiatives. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing paint laboratory that supports production operations. You will work a 12-hour shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on a rotating schedule, which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by production needs. The environment involves frequent handling of chemicals, including flammable liquids, acids, bases, and other substances typical of an industrial lab, with established Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) systems in place. You will use a range of electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment, as well as computer systems, databases, and Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Teams for data entry and communication. The lab emphasizes strict adherence to safety guidelines, preventative measures, and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized workspace. The role includes eligibility for retention bonuses at set service milestones, reflecting a commitment to rewarding long-term contribution. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Goose Creek, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
