Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Wage:
23.00-34.94 This full-time(0.9 status or 36hrs per week) position performs and reports waived to highly complex laboratory procedures on all patients to efficiently provide quality laboratory results to use by clinical care providers.
Responsibilities include:
Performs accurately waived, moderate, and highly complex testing. Records and reports routine patient and quality control (QC) testing in all laboratory sections on all patients utilizing documented procedures and does not report patient results unless defined QC parameters are met. Organizes work by matching orders with specimen; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly. Completes accurate specimen procurement on neonates to geriatric patients, assesses specimen integrity and processes specimen following defined parameters. Demonstrates basic to intermediate proficiency in instrument and analyzer maintenance. Performs basic troubleshooting of instruments and testing procedures according to pre-determined guidelines. Reports to appropriate Section Technologist any instances when basic troubleshooting has not resolved the problem. Assists with the implementation of new procedures and analyzers. Assists with new employee orientation and teaching of students. Assists in laboratory inventory control program through review and documentation of supply levels and processing incoming orders. Actively participated in laboratory quality improvement (QI) program by assisting in indicator identification and data gathering. Other duties may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
