Contract Job Overview:
The Lab Technician will support hardware, software, and system-level lab operations including server setup, OS installation, firmware flashing, troubleshooting, and inventory management. The role requires strong technical skills in hardware integration, Linux/Windows environments, and lab-based testing and debugging in a team-oriented environment.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of related experience or equivalent education required. 3 5 years of experience preferred in server assembly, system operation, or lab support environments. Experience with Linux and Windows Server OS installation and administration preferred. Experience in hardware troubleshooting, debugging, and system validation preferred.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively in a team environment and complete assigned tasks with ownership. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical instructions accurately. Install and remove hardware components including CPUs, memory, SSDs, NVMe drives, NICs, and peripherals. Perform firmware flashing including
BIOS, FPGA
firmware, and VR firmware using remote tools. Install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows Server operating systems. Navigate OS file systems and configure network interfaces. Maintain lab inventory, track hardware, and manage equipment lifecycle. Perform server assembly, software installation, and system debugging activities. Troubleshoot system issues related to power, thermal, firmware, components, and networking. Support hardware and network testing in a lab environment. Document observations, issues, and resolutions clearly and accurately. Assist in configuring server clusters and client-server setups. Support automated testing and lab infrastructure as needed. Lift and handle equipment up to 50 lbs as required.
Should Have:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. Good communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to quickly learn new tools and technical systems. Flexible to work extended hours when required.
Skills:
Server hardware installation and configuration. Linux and Windows Server administration. Firmware flashing (BIOS, FPGA, etc.). Network configuration and troubleshooting. Hardware debugging (CPU, memory, storage, NICs). Lab inventory management. System testing and validation. Basic MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Power, thermal, and system performance troubleshooting.
Qualification And Education:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or education required. Associate s degree in Computer Technology preferred. 3 5 years of experience in related technical field preferred.
