Micro Laboratory Technician 1 part time hourly Food and Ag Lab LLC Cedar Park, TX Job Details Part-time $19 - $20 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Biology Sanitation Bachelor's degree Attention to detail Associate's degree Assays Full Job Description Job Overview The Laboratory Technician I is an entry‑level role responsible for performing routine microbiological testing and laboratory support activities under close supervision. This position focuses on learning core laboratory techniques, maintaining accuracy in sample handling, and developing strong documentation habits. The Technician I plays a foundational role in ensuring high‑quality results and supporting daily laboratory operations. Weekend and holiday work required. Good attendance required. Responsibilities Prepares and sterilizes microbiological media such as agar and selective enrichments. Perform routine sample preparation, dilutions, and plating following established SOPs. Conduct standard microbiological assays such as APC, Yeast/Mold, and Coliform/E. coli counts as well as Salmonella, E.coli, Listeria, and gluten testing. Record measurements, observations, and results with accuracy and completeness. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, biosafety cabinets, and shared laboratory spaces. Assist with receiving, logging, and organizing incoming samples. Stock consumables, media, and supplies to support daily workflow. Operate basic laboratory equipment (pipettes, incubators, balances) after training. Perform basic equipment checks such as temperature logs and sanitizer verification. Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures. Employees are expected to arrive prepared to work in the laboratory up to five minutes before their scheduled start time and no later than the scheduled start time. Performs basic QC tasks after training sign‑off. Does not interpret QC failures or troubleshoot independently. Learns proper documentation practices required for ISO‑17025 compliance. --- Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Basic understanding of microbiology or laboratory science. Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, regulated environment. Commitment to cleanliness, safety, and quality. Technician I Education Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline is preferred. Candidates with an associate degree and strong hands‑on laboratory coursework may also be considered. Coursework in microbiology, aseptic technique, general chemistry, and laboratory safety is highly beneficial. Experience 1-2 years of laboratory experience (academic, internship, or industry). Prior experience with basic lab techniques (pipetting, dilutions, plating, microscopy) is helpful but not required. Knowledge of food safety topics is helpful. Preference for candidate with

experience Experience working in a regulated or quality‑focused environment (ISO, GMP, GLP, academic research labs) is a plus. Strong interest in developing technical skills and learning microbiological methods.
