Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Molecular Lab Technician to join our laboratory team. The technician will be responsible for performing molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis, and other molecular assays to support diagnostic, research, or development activities. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in molecular biology, excellent attention to detail, and thrives in a creative laboratory environment. Responsibilities Perform routine and specialized molecular biology techniques, including:
  • DNA/RNA extraction
  • PCR, RT-PCR, and qPCR
  • Nucleic acid quantification and quality control
  • Safety duties Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and ensure accurate documentation of procedures and results.
Maintain laboratory equipment, perform calibrations, and ensure cleanliness and organization. Handle clinical or research samples with care, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and disposal. Assist in troubleshooting experimental protocols and identifying areas for process improvement. Adhere strictly to safety, biohazard, and quality control regulations (e.g., CLIA, GLP). Collaborate with scientists, lab managers, and other technicians to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results. Maintain inventory and request laboratory supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science and Biochemistry.
Experience:
1+ years of hands-on experience in a molecular or clinical laboratory setting preferred. Familiarity with automated molecular testing platforms is a plus.
Skills:
Solid understanding of molecular biology techniques and principles. Excellent pipetting skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Proficient with laboratory software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
Laboratory setting with exposure to biohazards and chemicals. May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting of equipment or supplies. Preferred Qualifications (Optional): Certification (e.g., ASCP Molecular Biology Technologist or Generalist) is a plus. Experience in a CLIA-certified or COLA-compliant lab.
