Position Overview:
Join our innovative laboratory team where your previous experience, job-related or vocational training will empower you to perform a variety of essential tasks supporting scientific advancement. In this role, you will utilize your foundational technical or administrative skills to execute established work processes and contribute to team objectives. You'll engage in routine and moderately complex activities, applying standard operating procedures and analytical methods to solve defined problems. You will collaborate within your workgroup, exchanging technical information and understanding the broader impact of your duties. You are expected to manage your own workload independently, as this role does not include supervisory responsibilities. Your work will directly influence both the quality of your own output and that of your team. You will benefit from close to moderate supervision and ongoing guidance to support your professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate within a laboratory team to assist chemists and engineers in the development, screening, and commercialization of new products and processes. Manage and safely carry out laboratory work requests, maintaining and operating relevant apparatus and testing equipment while ensuring accurate data documentation. Prepare for and independently perform standard and select non-routine procedures, which may involve the preparation of samples/materials, equipment setup/configuration, and proper disposal of experimental waste materials. Accurately record and document all results and observations using appropriate instruments and tools. Take responsibility for the calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of basic to moderately complex instruments or machinery; troubleshoot and facilitate necessary repairs as needed. Maintain inventory of consumables, chemicals, and supplies by anticipating usage, managing order lead times, and following purchasing procedures. Communicate promptly and effectively with Technology Leaders or lead scientists to address issues and enable timely problem resolution. Actively participate in team meetings focused on safety, process improvements, problem solving, and other group-driven initiatives.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education with a minimum of 20 credits in science-related courses, plus relevant work experience (local requirements may apply). Minimum of an Associate's degree in a science-related discipline. Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) plus 1 year of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Alternatively, a High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of relevant experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
