Offers technical assistance for product development, application development, technical service, and research related to products or processes. In this role, you will utilize your prior related experience, job-specific training, or vocational training to complete routine activities. Basic technical or administrative skills are required to follow established and approved work processes. You must understand how your assigned duties relate to other jobs within your workgroup, and be able to exchange basic technical information with team members. It is your responsibility to use standard operating procedures and analytical scientific methods to address defined and straightforward problems. You must be able to select solutions from established options to resolve typical administrative, data organization, and data coordination issues. You will be accountable for managing your own assigned workload and will not have supervisory responsibilities. Your performance will impact the quality of both your own work and your team's work. You will receive close to moderate supervision and guidance in this role. Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities for this role: Work as part of a laboratory team supporting chemists and engineers in developing, screening, and commercializing new products and processes. Manage and safely execute laboratory work requests, maintain and operate relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment, and document data. Prepare for and independently perform standard and some non-routine procedures using relevant equipment and instruments. Activities may include sample or material preparation, equipment setup and configuration, and proper handling and disposal of waste materials generated from experimental activities. Accurately and reliably record readings and observations using relevant equipment and instruments. Take responsibility for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of simple and moderately complex instruments or machinery. Troubleshoot faulty equipment, perform repairs, or initiate repair processes as appropriate. Maintain inventory of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies by anticipating usage rates, order lead times, and following purchasing procedures. Promptly and effectively communicate issues to Technology Leaders or Lead Scientists to enable or expedite problem resolution. Actively participate in workgroup meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem-solving, and other workgroup, department, and functional topics. The employee is expected to attend monthly safety meetings, participate in a safety committee, and adhere to quality standards applicable to the business. Under the supervision of DOW lab personnel, the duties include accurate data entry of quality results, inventory management, RCRA waste training, and lab support to advance research projects successfully. The applicant must possess effective communication skills, efficiently use Microsoft Office, demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision (once fully trained), and collaborate with other lab technicians to maintain team productivity.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education with a minimum of 20 hours in science-related courses plus relevant work experience required (local requirements may vary). Minimum of an Associate's degree in a science-related discipline, Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) with 1 year of relevant work experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 3 years of relevant work experience.
