Job Description

OBJECTIVE
The Lab Technician will be responsible for assisting the Engineering and Lab staff with conducting tests, gathering and analyzing data, preparing information for internal and external communication, and various other lab responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs all testing assigned by Engineering on Nine Energy Service's various completion tool product lines, typically involving high pressure/high temperature testing, flow loop testing, dissolution testing, and materials testing.
Scope of testing responsibilities include but are not limited to prototype qualification testing, production failure analysis testing, production improvement testing, component failure testing, FIT testing, and vendor QC testing, by utilizing the appropriate equipment and procedures necessary to properly perform the task.
  • Utilizes critical thinking and knowledge gained from experience to be able to recognize test condition changes and contact Engineering during testing in the event of an unexpected problem/failure to gain the most data possible without unnecessarily wasting time, money, or tools.
Ensures that data acquired from testing is accurate & repeatable by utilizing best practices and sound judgment of testing conditions.
  • Helps engineers perform failure analysis using extensive knowledge of how pressure and temperature affect the product, as well as each individual component, throughout each phase of testing.
  • Using all data gained throughout test, composes detailed test reports including graphs and pictures. Modifies test reports for external viewing.
  • Requisitions all necessary test adapters.
  • Assembles varying test apparatuses as required to complete an assignment.
  • Properly assembles all tools used in testing, verifies proper configuration with lead Engineer prior to performing any testing actions.
  • Maintains and repairs test lab equipment. Performs 6S/cleanup duties in the test lab daily.
  • Identify and report crucial details from test performed to project lead to aid in product development.
  • Uses skills learned to provide valuable input to the design team from hands on perspective.
  • Completes various shop tasks as assigned/necessary to ensure the proper operation of the facilities and equipment.
  • Use of hand/power tools as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Use of Microsoft Office/SAP/ADP for administrative purposes and to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain the highest possible safety standards at all times and uphold company, customer, and industry HSE policies
  • Proactively seek to identify and mitigate potential HSE risks
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor's or Associates Degree in STEM subject a plus but not required Minimum 1 year relevant work experience required (similar industry or discipline including testing, data collection, manufacturing, inventory, or similar operations capacity) Previous work with high pressure systems, automation/instrumentation, hydraulics, heavy equipment, and/or machining/fabrication preferred Experience in the following disciplines are preferred but not required:

Lean Manufacturing Forklift certification Logistics/Shipping Ability to successfully pass required drug and alcohol screening and background checks Ability to meet physical demands of the job including lifting 50 lbs. or more unassisted Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to anticipate and plan for scheduling conflicts, downtime utilization, and occasionally work extended hours to maintain smooth transitions between tests Nine Energy Service is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
