Job Description

U.S. Got People is searching for a dedicated professional to work as a Medical Laboratory Technician to work at the Akeroyd Blood Donor Center on Fort Sam-Houston, in San Antonio, TX. Education Qualifications:
Degree/Education :
Graduated from a Medical Laboratory Technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or military equivalent program in order to meet the education requirements BLS though
American Heart Association Experience:
Shall have a minimum of one (1) year experience within the last two (2) years in a clinical laboratory, donor center, or plasma center in any of the following sections: hematology, chemistry, cytology, histology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and/or blood bank.
Board Certification :
Certification/registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technologists, or other agency approved by the Assistant Secretary Defense Health Affairs (ASD HA). Job duties may include but are not limited to: Registers prospective donors in blood bank computer system. Performs health history assessment on prospective volunteer, autologous, therapeutic and platelet and plasma apheresis blood donors. Through personal interviews, incumbent obtains sensitive medical information to determine donor eligibility. Incumbent strips and segments blood tubing, using an automated sealing device. Weighs blood components using electronic scales and documents weight. Separates whole blood to manufacture packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma or recovered human plasma using manual or automated methods. Cleans and wipes equipment, monitors supply and pulls outdated stock.
