We are looking for a Principal Lab Technician in our RD&E Reservoir and Drilling Chemistry team located in Sugar Land, TX . The Principal Lab Technician will be responsible for a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory operations, providing direct support to onsite researchers. What You Will Do:
Provide direct laboratory support to onsite researchers for a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory operations Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications Use a variety of laboratory equipment, including HTHP equipment, requiring a high degree of acquired skills. Set up and operate special equipment following manufacturer's instructions with limited supervision Perform routine calibration and maintenance on lab equipment following our safety standards Maintain laboratory databases and prepare chemical samples Record test results and prepare graphs and charts as needed Write experimental reports, summaries, protocols, and appropriate documentation in a lab notebook May assume full responsibility for minor projects
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree/coursework in related fields (e.g. lab technician programs, college coursework in science, technology, engineering or mathematics) or equivalent. 4 years laboratory technician experience in a lab, plant or similar environment Strong knowledge and adherence to laboratory safety protocols, including chemical handling, equipment operation, and compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards Proven record of operating High Pressure and High temperature equipment Demonstrated experience in a laboratory environment and ability to set up and operate special equipment following manufacturer's instructions with limited supervision Ability to apply proper laboratory methods and exhibit high attention to detail and quality service with knowledge of API standards Experience in lab equipment maintenance and calibration Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Immigration Sponsorship is not available for this role
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years laboratory technician experience in a lab, plant or similar environment Previous experience in either Stimulation (acidizing and fracturing), Cementing, and/or Drilling Fluids testing Oil and gas experience Work on complex assignments and performs tests, in which initiative is required to resolving problems and making recommendations Experience performing tests with core floods, flow loops, dynamic scale loop or rheometers is a plus Basic understanding of customer needs
Physical Demands:
Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
