ABOUT The Student Assistant, Biology is a part-time position responsible to the Life Sciences Department Chair. •This is a part-time position and can work up to 18 hours per week.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Setting up and taking down equipment/handouts needed for classes. Cleaning and storing of equipment. Inventorying of materials and equipment. Helping in the recovery of waste for disposal. Documenting amounts and types of waste recovered. Work as a team with professional and peer tutors to help and support each other. Attend required meetings. Report problems to the Department Chair. Perform related duties as assigned. Follow all policies and procedures established by the Center for Anatomy & Physiology Resource Room.
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of and experience with standard laboratory equipment. Must be student-centered in methodology and classroom procedures and have excellent communication skills. Must have the ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Direct Supervision Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, lifting, walking, and bending.
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor settings (greenhouse) with work rarely outside of normal business hours. Possible duties in the greenhouse.

WHO YOU ARE
Students must be registered for undergraduate classes and maintain enrollment status to work in these positions. Students may qualify for Federal Work Study, which will be determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Additional Job Specific Requirements Students are allowed to work a maximum of eighteen (18) hours per week and cannot work in multiple hourly positions. A work week is Monday-Sunday.
