Laboratory Assistant-Accessioner Position Type:

Negotiable (typically between 7:00 PM - 3:00 AM) About PRW Laboratories PRW Laboratories is a high-quality surgical pathology laboratory committed to accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service to our clinical partners. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Laboratory Assistant / Accessioner to join our growing team. Position Summary The Laboratory Assistant/Accessioner plays a critical role in the pre-analytical phase of surgical pathology testing. This position is responsible for receiving, verifying, and accessioning specimens, ensuring accurate patient and case information, and supporting laboratory workflow in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive and check in specimens delivered by couriers and clients Verify specimen integrity, labeling, and accompanying requisitions Accession patient and case data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) Generate and print cassettes, blocks, and slides for histology processing Prepare blocks and slides for special stains, immunohistochemistry, and additional testing Organize, file, and maintain slides, blocks, and paperwork according to lab protocols Communicate discrepancies or issues clearly to appropriate laboratory staff Maintain compliance with laboratory policies, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations Perform other related duties as assigned to support laboratory operations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software systems Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Effective time management skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Typing speed of 50+ WPM preferred Familiarity with anatomy, medical terminology, or laboratory workflows is a plus Education and Experience (Preferred) Associate's or Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university Coursework or experience in biology, chemistry, medical laboratory science, or a related field preferred Prior experience in a medical laboratory, pathology lab, or healthcare setting is a plus, but not required Why Join PRW Laboratories?
