Classified Staff Reports to: Instructional & Classroom Support Tech 4 This position will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) days. The College reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time after the minimum posting period once a sufficient applicant pool has been established. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A. Olympic College is currently recruiting for Instructional & Classroom Support Tech 3. This position coordinates instructional support activities in a basic or applied science teaching program and also coordinates support services for various courses; provides professional/ technical support requiring knowledge of scientific discipline, electronic, and/or engineering. Instructional & Classroom Support Technician III in the MESH (STEM) department is primarily responsible for preparing laboratory experiments for the biology classes on our Bremerton Campus. Responsible for the upkeep of the stockroom, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining inventory and equipment. Prepare Laboratory classrooms for instruction Clean Laboratories after classes, which includes recollecting all provided materials, cleaning and/or disinfecting of lab bench tops, and sterilization of any biohazardous. Operate laboratory equipment such as electronic balances, microscopes, spectrophotometers, pH meters, metering pumps and centrifuges. Communicate with instructors regularly to ensure the laboratory set ups are adequate for each class. Modify equipment, material, and programs as required for each individual. Provide maintenance with laboratory equipment. Overseeing of equipment. Provide training for faculty and students with computer software programs, microbiological techniques, and methods biochemical and chemical analysis, etc. Maintain computerized inventory of chemical reagents. Coordinator of biological specimens. May direct assigned personnel. Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Lab management experience, blood pathogen and chemical training, hazardous training, safety training or related training.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a major study in a basic applied science OR two years of full-time experience as an Instructional & Classroom Support Tech 2 or equivalent.
Terms of Employment:
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered. This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $49,116 - $66,012• annually. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A , when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associat ion (WPEA) Union.
