Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Laboratory Operations Specialist to support daily lab operations and ensure an organized, efficient, and high-quality environment. This role includes maintaining lab supplies and equipment, managing inventory and material flow, performing sample preparation, and executing test methods with accurate data collection. The specialist will collaborate with engineers and vendors to support equipment maintenance and analytical processes, while ensuring lab readiness for customer interactions and adherence to 5S and operational standards.
Scope of Work:
Maintain and organize laboratory supplies, fixtures, tools, and test equipment Own day‑to‑day lab operations Ensure lab cleanliness, organization, and sustainability aligned to 5S standards Coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance for analytical and test equipment Partner with vendors and internal teams to resolve equipment issues and maintenance needs Support Failure Analysis utilizing the following analytical techniques: X-ray, Cross‑sectioning, polishing, grinding, and mounting, Profilometry, Contact angle, Nanoindentation, Optical microscopy, SEM, FTIR, XRF Operate analytical laboratory equipment to execute test methods, ensure accurate data collection Execute defined test methods and support data collection activities Ensure proper handling, preparation, and tracking of test samples Partner with engineers to define analytical methods, expectations, and result interpretation Manage incoming and outgoing material flow within the lab Own inventory tracking, replenishment, and organization of lab supplies Execute procurement support activities, including sourcing supplier quotes, coordinating purchase order (PO) creation, and tracking invoices through receipt, verification, and closure Support lab tour preparation and customer-facing readiness activities Ensure lab presentation, flow, and environment meet customer expectations Assist in execution of lab walkthroughs and demos as needed Drive continuous improvement in lab operations, workflows, and material handling Support adherence to defined lab processes and operational standards Support cross-functional coordination with engineering, facilities, and operations teams Perform additional duties as assigned to support lab and program objectives Requirements Technical/Associates Degree in a STEM related discipline Computer skills such as use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook Excellent technical documentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience:
Comfortable working in a laboratory environment: Direct experience working in an analytical laboratory, preferably related to failure analysis, materials science, inorganic chemistry or semiconductor manufacturing would be an advantage Experience doing sample preparation, including but not limited to: mounting samples in epoxy, preparing samples for SEM, using a saw/polisher Demonstrates strong attention to detail Experience in laboratory inventory control & ordering consumable supplies Experience in failure analysis metrology preferred Ability to learn new technologies and techniques Ability to utilize analytical lab equipment with hands on experience Benefits Health Insurance Time Off 401(k) Pay Range (DOE) $80K/yr - $100K/yr Apply for this job
