Lab Analyst II Reports to: Lab Department Supervisor, Lab Department Manager Job Summary:
The Laboratory Analyst II is a mid-level analyst position responsible for independently performing complex laboratory tasks, supporting junior staff, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of analytical workflows. This role includes preparing advanced reagents, calibrating and maintaining instruments, troubleshooting issues, and guiding others in documentation and analysis. The Lab Analyst II demonstrates a solid understanding of laboratory methods, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, contributing to investigations and continuous improvement efforts. Duties/Responsibilities:
Independently manage laboratory documentation and assist junior staff with proper recordkeeping.
Prepare complex standards and reagents in accordance with SOPs.
Calibrate instrumentation and perform routine maintenance independently; conduct basic troubleshooting and support escalation of troubleshooting efforts as necessary.
Set up and load instruments for analysis with minimal oversight.
Analyze samples and ensure accurate flagging and narrative documentation; guide others in these practices.
Track sample progress, ensure timely completion, and communicate delays appropriately.
Support and mentor junior analysts in laboratory techniques and procedures.
Collaborate with management to design and execute investigation tests.
Demonstrate solid understanding of test codes, SOPs, and parent methods.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance technical expertise. Pay Rate:
$28.85 to 36.06/hour Required Skills/Abilities:
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
Strong understanding of quality assurance practices and regulatory compliance.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve routine technical issues.
Effective communication and mentoring skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and documentation practices. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2-5 years of laboratory experience, preferably in an environmental or analytical testing lab.
Familiarity with ion chromatography, colorimetry, ISE and other wet chemistry instrumentation preferred. Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Manual dexterity to operate laboratory instruments and computer systems.
Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to chemicals and environmental samples, using appropriate PPE. Key Benefits Include:
