Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description The Lab Technician works as part of a quality and microbiology team to perform product testing, analysis, documentation, and reporting to ensure safe, high-quality beverage products reach the market. This role directly supports product conformance, performance, and product claims through routine laboratory testing, environmental monitoring, and quality documentation on either 1st shift (6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday-Friday) or 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m., Sunday-Thursday). Responsibilities Perform daily product testing to verify quality, safety, and compliance with customer specifications. Prepare samples and conduct laboratory analyses for microbiology and chemistry testing. Document and communicate test results clearly using customer specifications and internal standards. Advise the Quality team of test results and potential quality or food safety issues. Prepare and support corrective actions when test results fall outside specifications. Complete daily environmental and water testing to monitor facility hygiene and process control. Assist with calibrating and preparing the HPLC for routine testing. Operate and maintain the autoclave for sterilization of equipment and materials. Conduct allergen testing to verify compliance with allergen control programs. Perform titration analyses, including sulfuric acid, caustic, and vitamin C verification tests. Assist other lab technicians with in-line quality checks on production lines. Support CO2 delivery receipt testing to verify incoming materials meet quality standards. Complete all required quality and food safety paperwork accurately and on time. Follow laboratory, GMP, and food safety protocols aligned with FDA, USDA, and GFSI-benchmarked standards such as HACCP, SQF, BRC, and AIB. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory work area. Essential Skills Associate's (AS) or Bachelor's (BS) degree in a relevant scientific field such as microbiology, biology, chemistry, or a related discipline. Hands-on microbiology laboratory experience; academic (school) lab experience is acceptable. Hands-on chemistry laboratory experience; academic (school) lab experience is acceptable. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work based on the most urgent needs in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with basic microbiology techniques and laboratory safety practices. Familiarity with basic chemistry techniques, including titrations and solution preparation. Ability to accurately document, interpret, and communicate laboratory test results. Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality and food safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience or exposure to quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes in a laboratory or food/beverage environment. Knowledge of FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, SQF, BRC, AIB, and GFSI-related quality and food safety standards. Prior experience working as a lab technician in a food, beverage, or manufacturing setting. Comfort working with HPLC equipment, autoclaves, and allergen testing methods. Interest in ongoing professional development supported by education reimbursement programs. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with quality and production teams. Work Environment This position is based in a beverage manufacturing facility with an on-site micro/quality laboratory. The Lab Technician works in a controlled lab environment as well as in production areas to support line quality checks and environmental testing. Available schedules include 1st shift (6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday-Friday) and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m., Sunday-Thursday). The role involves working with standard laboratory equipment such as HPLC systems, autoclaves, titration setups, and allergen testing kits, while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Washington, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
