Job Summary The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides essential nursing care under the supervision of registered nurse, physician and mid-level provider. The LVN is a member of the health care team responsible for performing assigned nursing care activities. The LVN supports and exemplifies the mission and values of DAP Health.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Essential Duties/Responsibilities LVNs are responsible for practicing within the CA and DAP LVN Scope of Practice Follow physician orders, protocols as written and seek clarification as needed Complete pre-visit preparation for scheduled patients/caseload Assist clinicians with patient flowReceive/Room Patients:
record chief complaint and health history, prepares patient for examination, records blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oxymetry, height and weight Assist provider with patient examinations/procedures including explanation, positioning, draping, shaving and disinfecting treatment sites Collect specimens; draws blood samples, performs EKGs as ordered by clinic providers; assists the physician with examination, treatments, minor surgery, dressing changes and splinting Administer medications, premixed allergens, and performing skin test, patch testing Verify Medical Assistant's (MA) medications before administration utilizing the order as entered into the EHR. Document the verification in the EHR. May insert and discontinue peripheral IVs May initiate and maintain peripheral intravenous (IV) therapy for hydration and medication administration (with valid IV certification) Review patient record and forms for completion and accuracy Provide patient counseling and education May assist in the case management of patient populations May receive and communicate messages for the triage registered nurse or clinicians; however, may not triage. Clean and sterilize supplies, rooms and equipment Dispose of contaminated, disposable and outdated items following proper procedure Demonstrate competency in the use all equipment in the clinical area prior to use and ongoing Prepare and replenish supplies in the treatment room and exam rooms; maintain exam rooms in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients Keep up to date all quality assurance logs (Oxygen pressure, glucometer, refrigerator temperature, medication inventory, sample medication inventory, immunizations inventory Report to RN or Nurse Manager when equipment needs maintenance Report to Nurse Manager when materials needed in clinical area need to be ordered Follow department policies and protocols, to ensure uniform delivery of services and promotes quality assurance Demonstrate willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed. Maintain good working relationship with all clinic personnel Attend and participate in staff meetings Responsible for continuing education, has current license and CPR card Other duties as assignedNote:

LVNs work with Nursing Leadership for areas of further training/competency as needed. Required Skills/Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Effective interpersonal skills Able to use calculator, telephone, fax and copy machine Able to analyze research, prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality Ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions Proficiency in computer use and the internet Education and Experience Licensed as Vocational Nurse in the State of California Two years of experience in nursing preferred Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Working Conditions/Physical Requirements This position is on-site at a DAP Health clinic location This job operates in an office setting and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, repetitive motion and talking.
