LPN Dermatology/Dermatology Surgery 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 499 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06032 From $27 an hour - Full-time Central Connecticut Dermatology 90 reviews From $27 an hour - Full-time Licensed Practical Nurse LPN for Dermatologic / Mohs surgery Central Connecticut Dermatology located in Cromwell, Southington, Farmington and Bloomfield, CT. This position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients undergoing minor skin procedures and skin surgery. This includes pre-procedure patient evaluations and post-procedure patient and family teaching in a safe and quality-focused environment. Kindness, attention to detail and patience are highly valued.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform initial assessment and evaluation of the patient including vital signs.
  • Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure teaching for both the patient and the family members
  • Provide assistance during surgery or other procedures as indicated by the physician
  • For skin surgery: prepare the patient for their procedure by prepping the area, draping with sterile drapes, setting up a clean tray with anesthesia, preparing instruments. Scrub in as an assistant to the surgeon when necessary.
  • Administer medications to the patients including but not limited to local anesthesia, oral antibiotics, and oral anxiolytics, under physician supervision.
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation for all medications administered under physician direction
  • Ability to utilize the EHR for daily tasks and for documentation as directed by the physician
  • In some roles, collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Under physician direction authorize medication refills
  • Under physician supervision, return patient calls and relay appropriate information to the supervising physician.
  • Correctly disposes of infection waste and biohazard materials
  • Schedule appointments for patients
  • Change dressings on wounds.
  • Inventory and order medical emergency supplies monthly and ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Must be willing to travel to the Farmington, Southington, Bloomfield and Cromwell locations.
