(RNP) , is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect. Starting in 2014, RNP was the second CT Medical assisted treatment (MATS) agency allowed into the State correctional system to administer methadone. Our program, North Star Recovery , began at Bridgeport Correctional Center and has grown substantially both in scope as well as number of population served. Our work will now be extending to Garner Correctional Center in Newtown . Seeking both a FT as well as PT Addiction Counselor. May spend substantial time at CHS as this is the hub of the program. Those skills of a clinic counselor implemented within a correctional setting are being sought. Must work collaboratively and professionally with all DOC staff particularly DOC Addictions Counselor(s). The Center for Human Services (CHS) located in Stratford, Connecticut is a CARF accredited, Department of Public Health licensed, medication-assisted treatment program for opiate addicted persons utilizing prescribed methadone or buprenorphine/suboxone, and supportive counseling in conjunction with other support and referral services. The persons served attend individual counseling to address drug use/abuse, personal/family, employment, health, and legal issues. Group and family counseling, in addition to intensive outpatient services are offered to those who voluntarily seek additional support. Clients at CHS also have access to psychiatric care.
Hours:
Every other Saturday & Sunday 7:00am - 11:00am
CORE FUNCTIONS
Dispenses, documents and reports all methadone doses in accordance with approved nursing techniques, program policies and procedures and applicable federal and state regulations. Verifies, updates, records and files doctors' orders, dosage levels and laboratory results in client records. Observes client, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of client's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Participates in department's staff, treatment team, medication change meetings and in quality assurance and improvement activities. Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor
CORE COMPETENCIES
Licensed Practical Nurse license required. Previous experience in methadone maintenance or similar community-based substance abuse treatment organization preferred. Substantial specialized judgment and skill in observation, care and counsel of the ill. Ability to work under minimum supervision and to assume initiative. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. Must be able to work flexible hours as needed. Excellent communication skills. Ability to project a professional image.
