Job description:
  • Speaking Creole is a MUST.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • The Medical assistant/billing and coding will interview patients, measure vital signs and record information on patient charts.
  • Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed.
  • Greet and escort patients to the examination room. Adhere to HIPPA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Proficient in medical terminology, and computer skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with compassion for our patients and their families.
  • Performs supervised lab work once the skill has been signed off by a nurse or physician as per physician orders and prepares.
  • Returning patient phone calls and messages on time. Returning patients calls to obtain and relay pertinent information for the provider.
  • Performs supervised procedures such as, but not limited to EKG,vaccines and medications via IM/SC/ID/Oral and assists in procedures/treatments as requested by provider. Assist providers in assessing a comprehensive and accurate picture of the patient's health, facilitating informed decision-making and high-quality patient care.
  • Process and handle tubes and specimens according to laboratory protocols.
  • Performs laboratory tests and procedures, such as phlebotomy and venipuncture procedures for specimen collection.
  • Calls pharmacy for patients authorization prescriptions
  • Maintains quality control, Glucometer, eyewash, and refrigerator temperature, and the cleaning logs as needed for the clinic. Reports any malfunction of medical equipment and the safety issues to the office manager.
  • Complete the pre-visit planning prior to patient's visit withing 72 hours.
  • Ensure a complete review of all pertinent records, including labs, DI, and/or referrals prior to patient's visit preparation for the appointment.
  • Complies with infection control and OSHA regulations. Handling and disposal of biomedical waste as per regulations for the clinic
  • Provides health coaching to a defined group of patients. Follow-up with coached patients via a weekly calls.
  • Referrals, ensure complete and timely processing of patient referrals and follow up to resolve any outstanding referral requests. Recommend patients to review Alta Medical Care portal for more of referral options.
  • Follow-up with patients in a timely matter.
  • Maintain quality controls and records.
  • Maintain patients and reports any changes in patient conditions to the provider or other personnel.
  • Handle and process a various types of Specimens including urine, blood, and other bodily fluids with a proper collection, labeling and storage as well.
