Medical terminology Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality patient care across a variety of settings, including long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Your expertise will support patient recovery, comfort, and well-being through skilled nursing interventions, assessments, and personalized care plans. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders, including IV infusions and other specialized treatments like botulinum toxin or dermal fillers. Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as specimen collection, laboratory processing, and medical imaging procedures. Manage airway maintenance, ventilator support, catheterization, and sterile techniques to ensure patient safety and comfort. Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, traumatic injuries at Level I or Level II trauma centers, or those requiring hospice or palliative care. Support emergency response efforts by participating in triage processes and acute pain management in urgent or emergency care settings. Document all patient interactions thoroughly while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop discharge plans, case management strategies, and long-term care plans tailored to individual needs. Work with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring home & community care. Skills Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and patient tracking. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Experience with IV insertion/insertion techniques, phlebotomy, medication administration including injections and tube feeding. Skilled in patient assessment skills including vital signs monitoring and physical examinations across various age groups. Ability to perform advanced nursing procedures such as catheter care, sterile processing techniques, suturing assistance, spinal taps, gastric lavage or neonatal ventilator management when applicable. Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Excellent communication skills for working with patients of all ages—including children—and collaborating effectively within healthcare teams.
