Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Phone Nurse who will also serve as Pharmacy Backup to support our growing oncology practice. This dual-role position is vital in ensuring seamless patient communication, safe medication coordination, and continuity of care for oncology patients.
Key Responsibilities Phone Nurse Duties:
Triage incoming patient calls, assess symptoms, and provide clinical guidance based on established protocols Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, side effects, and symptom management Schedule appointments, labs, and follow-ups as needed Respond to urgent patient concerns with appropriate prioritization and escalation
Pharmacy Backup Duties:
Assist with medication refills, prior authorizations, and insurance verification Support chemotherapy and specialty medication coordination under pharmacist supervision Ensure accurate medication documentation and compliance with safety standards Communicate with pharmacies, patients, and providers regarding prescriptions and changes Maintain knowledge of oncology medications, dosing, and side effect profiles Qualifications Active LPN or Pharmacy Tech license in Georgia Minimum of 2 years of experience Experience in telephone triage Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment Experience with EMR systems Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in oncology pharmacy or medication coordination Knowledge of insurance prior authorizations and pharmacy processes Benefits Competitive salary Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Retirement plan options Continuing education opportunities
