for LPN's in our Med/Surg department as well as in our Nursing Home . please see both job descriptions listed below. Med/Surg Under the general supervision of the Medical Surgical Manager and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse on the Medical Surgical Unit provides direct nursing care to patients of all age groups with medical-surgical conditions requiring hospitalization according to physicians' orders and applicable patient care standards.

III. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Current Georgia licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. B. Previous experience in medical surgical nursing preferred. C. Current verification of competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation to include pediatric resuscitation (BLS) with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and to be completed within 6 months of hire date. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is recommended, but not required. Must renew certifications every 2 years or per American Heart Association's recommendations. Nursing Home Responsible for providing nursing care to residents; observes and reports symptoms and conditions; administers medications and documents responses; documents accurately in the medical record; assists in improving the resident's health and well being. Responsible for carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with existing federal and state regulations and facility policy and procedure. Duties and Responsibilities of this Level ÿ Attends staff meetings/in-service education 80% of the time as required for job performance ÿ Completes continuing education hours as evidenced by education records ÿ Assists with implementation of resident plan of care ÿ Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing policies and procedures ÿ Records nursing information on the resident's medical record ÿ Observes, reports, and documents the resident's reaction to drugs, tests, treatments, and therapeutic measures ÿ Informs charge nurse/DON of condition changes with each resident ÿ Responsible for supervision of assigned C.N.A.'s ÿ Assists with staff orientation ÿ Participates in staff development ÿ Obtains/provides a shift report which consists of pertinent facts regarding resident care issues and outcomes ÿ Receives, Transcribes, Implements, and Communicates physicians orders ÿ Documents resident care outcomes in the form of vital signs, I & O, weekly assessments, monthly summaries, and nurse's notes ÿ Performs compliance rounds to ensure resident condition and environment meets or exceeds DHR and facility requirements ÿ Contributes to creating a work environment that encourages positive staff moral, motivation, and teamwork
