JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse is a health care professional that performs direct patient care and/or programming under the supervision of a Regional Clinical Supervisor. They may administer medication according to the policies of the assigned program. The LPN uses a positive rehabilitation approach and progressive teaching methods to assist customers to meet their needs in personal care, social behavior, recreation, and independent living skills. Under the supervision of the Regional Clinical Supervisor, the LPN provides assistance to the Psychiatrist/ARNP and exemplifies the Mission, Core Values, and Ethics of Optimae LifeServices.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum age of 18. Current license in Iowa to practice as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Minimum of 1 (one) year current clinical experience is preferred. Must be able to pass a background check. Must have a valid Iowa driver's license and valid vehicle insurance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Be a part of a professional team to promote and improve mental health and well-being with open communication and respect for all. Maintain professional appearance and work ethics. Assist/support and act as a liaison between Psychiatrist/ARNP and customer, assess and address issues in a timely manner and maintain security and confidentiality at all times. Maintain, monitor and secure medications, including dispensing and disposing; and have a working knowledge of injections and other dispensing instructions for the safety of customers. Maintain open communication with drug representatives for drug instructions, changes, samples, and informative in-services when needed. Call in/fax prescription refills to pharmacies, obtain written, signed prescriptions from Psychiatrist/ARNP to hand deliver to clients, handle pre-approval for drugs and release forms for students' medication administration from schools. Report daily to Psychiatrist/ARNP and attend monthly meetings with clinical staff. Adapt to the needs of the program by demonstrating flexibility/adaptability. Maintain a safe and clean environment for customers and co-workers. Encourage and refer customers to participate in Community Support Programs as needed. Maintain appropriate documentation and charting regarding medications and issues, secure charts and deliver to designated HIPAA approved chart storage when completed. Monitor Psychiatrist/ARNP in-coming mail and voice messages and address issues in a timely manner to ensure excellent communication.
