Overview The Medication Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications within a healthcare setting. This position involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to manage patient medication regimens, maintain accurate medical documentation, and uphold compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as experience in home care or hospital environments. Responsibilities Oversee the administration of medications to patients, ensuring adherence to prescribed regimens. Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized medication plans. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards. Monitor patients for side effects and effectiveness of medications, adjusting plans as necessary. Educate patients and families on medication management, including proper usage and potential side effects. Conduct regular assessments of vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team. Utilize electronic health record systems such as Cerner for documentation and communication purposes. Stay updated on current best practices in medication management and relevant medical terminology. Requirements Proven experience in home care or hospital settings preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Ability to assess vital signs accurately and respond appropriately to changes in patient conditions. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and patient education. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems; experience with Cerner is a plus. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple patient cases effectively.
