Index01/K/02 ($29.63/hour) to 01/K/04 ($32.04/hour) depending on verified experience for NEW to District Employees
- Transferring employees or former District employees hired into this role will be placed on the "K" letter grade of the Classified Salary Schedule, but the initial step placement will vary based on a variety of factors.

QUALIFICATIONS
Acceptable Experience & Training
Current, unrestricted Idaho LPN license
Current CPR Certification required
Six months of pediatric or community health nursing experience preferred
Knowledge of
Essential nursing skills and procedures including collecting and reporting data in order to contribute to the physical and mental assessment and health care management;
Principles and practices of licensed practical nursing, especially as related to school health;
State and local laws relating to health and social issues;
Collaboration, planning and organization techniques and practices. Ability to
Provide effective nursing services at one or more schools; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with otherscontribute to the development of a positive school climate;
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing ;
Maintain confidentiality with regard to student information;
Listen actively and ask questions to assess health care needs;
Work with multicultural and multi-ethnic, often non-English speaking, students and families;
Safely administer and document the administration of medication according to the student's individual health plan, the healthcare provider's orders, the Boise School District policy and the Idaho Nurse Practice Act;
Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner;
Collaborate, plan and organize Abide by the Code of Ethics for the School Nursing Profession as established by the Idaho State Board of Education, the Boise School District policies and procedures and the Idaho Nurse Practice Act.
Comply with the requirements of Idaho Code with regard to nurse conduct, including but not limited to the manner in which suspected instances of child abuse or suspected student suicidal tendencies are addressed;
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Licensed Practical Nurse role is to complement the Registered Nurse in the performance of providing health care to students thereby improving the wellbeing, academic success and lifelong achievement of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care for ill/injured children, administer basic first aid and assist with emergencies as needed;
Manage chronic and ongoing health problems in cooperation with parents, physicians, the school nurse, other school staff and community agencies;
Participate in the development and modification of health plans for those students with special health needs Coordinate services of the school health program with the school nurse including
Maintain the health office, ensuring it is clean, organized and fully supplied with the necessary equipment;
Maintain student health records with confidentiality Monitor student immunization status, provide resources as needed and compile the data for the annual State Immunization report; Conduct health screening to include height, weight, vision, dental, scoliosis or other health assessments;
Screen for contagious illness and assist with the management of communicable disease outbreaks Case management for at-risk children Serve as a liaison between and resource for teachers, administrators, parents, and community health care providers
Communicate with parents/guardian regarding student health concerns and treatment when appropriate by telephone, or written communication;
Complete and document accident reports and other health related reports;
Assist students with obtaining community resources as needed;
Encourage wellness activities and promote disease prevention such as hand washing, respiratory hygiene, etc.;
Coordinate and schedule special health related events for staff and/or students such as the Operation School Bell Program, or annual employee cardiac risk screening
Provide health information that promotes wellness to students and staff and assist the RN with the delivery of the Health curriculum as needed.
Coordinate school and community health activities and serve as a liaison health professional between home, school and community resources;
Assists in the coordination and implementation of District wellness programs in assigned schools;
