Job Description

Under the supervision of Physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to provide quality nursing care for assigned patients. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes assignments as directed by providers/nurse. Assists in collecting data regarding patient care medical record information. Participates in patient/family education. Prepares exam rooms with necessary supplies for delivery of patient care. Assists with the scheduling of tests, treatments and/or referrals of patients. Assists providers with patients examinations, procedures and treatments. Orders necessary supplies for patient care. Keeps daily monthly records according to EMH, state and JCAHO regulations. Participates in staff meetings, committees and teams that facilitate communications education and performance improvement. Attends continuing education programs to maintain current knowledge and skills. Administers medications (oral and parenteral) as directed by providers. Provides a comfortable and safe environment for patients. Prepares and maintains Nursing schedule to insure appropriate coverage. Available for call-in each day. Discusses the reports with the physician each day and calls patients to give results and instructions as to what to do next. Considers the age of the patient served, applies knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques through the life span (neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients) in planning and implementing care. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Contributes to the achievement of the mission, vision, and values of the Organization. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Demonstrates a commitment to incorporating the core concepts of patient family centered care into practice (dignity, respect, information sharing, and participation). Demonstrates a commitment to the development and implementation of shared governance across the Organization. Performs other related duties as assigned. Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection, physical strain and assault. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, radiation and antineoplastic agents. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently. Three (3) years LPN experience in clinical setting preferred.
