ABOUT IBERIA COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CENTER
Iberia Comprehensive Community Health Center (ICCHC) and its satellite health centers are the leading providers of primary health care services in the communities we serve, including individuals who are both insured and uninsured. ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services, including medical care. Our medical department provides a full array of medical care including, but not limited to women's health exams, men's health exams, diabetes care, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, chronic conditions, laboratory services, physical examinations, and referrals for specialty care. ICCHC is currently seeking a full time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its Lafayette, LA location.
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT
This position engages our patients to support their clinical needs and supports Staff Physicians in managing their panel of patients. The normal work period consists of 80 hours/two weeks; sometimes more hours, sometimes less hours, or as needed to provide departmental coverage according to patient demand.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide basic nursing care to patients. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician. Monitor vital signs and other health indicators. Provide patient education and support. Document patient care activities in accordance with established standards. Perform diagnostic tests as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate. Graduate of state approved LPN/LVN school of nursing. Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Louisiana.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Previous Medical/Surgical experience preferred, but not required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Basic knowledge of the nursing process and nursing principles. Basic knowledge of Biology and Chemistry. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Thorough knowledge of medical/ surgical procedures.
