JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:

Full -time Weekend LPN $$$Hire on Bonus$$$

JOB SUMMARY

Makes daily rounds to observe and evaluate the physical and emotional status of all residents and takes necessary action. Prepares and administers medications according to procedure. Consults with physicians, receives and records orders as required. Makes rounds with physicians when necessary. Reviews care plans and makes assignments on Nursing Care Sheets to assure proper care is given. Is responsible for the medications and equipment on the unit. Charts as required by procedure. Assures that proper safety measures for residents and personnel are followed. Keeps the supervisor or director of nursing informed of the status of residents and other related matters. When appropriate supervises other personnel who are charting or giving direct resident care. Participates in staff meetings and gives in-service as required.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Responsibility:

Is responsible for the total nursing care of residents during his/her shift. Maintains a quality of service that will fulfill the objectives of the facility and be in accord with the policies and procedures set forth by the facility's administration and governing body.

Physical Demands:

Good physical and mental health, emotional stability and maturity.

Special Demands:

Must have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing. Willingness to work with realization that errors and incompetence may have serious consequences for residents. Understanding, patience and tact in dealing with residents, their families and visitors. Memory for details. Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff. Initiative and judgement in determining resident needs. Skill in identifying problems and assisting in planning their solution.

Medical:

Must comply with state and local requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Graduation from accredited school of nursing; current registration with the Professional Board of Nurse Examiners in this state.

Training and Experience:

At least 6 months experience as a staff nurse in a long term care facility

Job Knowledge:

Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, including those basic knowledges relating to nursing; such as psychological, biological, physical, social and medical sciences and their application for better understanding of resident-care problems. Familiarity with organization and functions of the nursing facility, including policies, regulations and procedures. Knowledge of literature and new developments in the nursing field. Knowledge of the duties of other personnel for which he/she is responsible.

Professional Requirements:

Competence in supervision and leadership, interest in research and development in nursing and vision in planning and adaptability to change.

EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES

Working Hours:

A 16 hour shift per Saturday and Sunday (6am-10p).
