Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a student with medical needs on the van transportation to and from a school out of district. After the student is dropped off, the LPN will report to the Locke Middle School to assist in the nurse's office. In the afternoon, the LPN will assist the student on the van transportation home.
Hours:
6:50-1:50 Monday-Friday during the school year and summer hours in July and August based on student's IEP Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Provide appropriate nursing support care
  • Following student's healthcare plan
  • Ride to/from school with a student in a specialized transportation
  • Taking vital signs Knowledge/experience with G-tube, J-tube, trach
  • Toileting/diapering
  • Medical monitoring of student's equipment
  • Positioning and lifting independently; must have the ability to push, pull, bend, kneel and climb stairs as necessary and be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Classroom support related to medical/health needs
  • Medication administration as necessary, in accordance with school policy on administration of medication in school
  • Medical documentation
  • Consultation with RN as appropriate
  • Report to the Locke for the full day if student is not in attendance
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or District Lead Nurse
Qualifications:
  • Current Massachusetts State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to used effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication
